It was deactivated after the war but came back into use as the United States fought the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. The facility has also become known for two infamous incidents – when it unknowingly spread deadly anthrax spores around the US and when 6,249 sheep were poisoned to death near the facility in 1968 which was linked to the US Army.
