During the peak of her career, Lady Gaga’s name was thrown into a rumor that had fans speculating whether their pop idol was male or female. A story which emerged on Bossip had alleged that the Poker Face singer told a reporter the following, “It’s not something that I’m ashamed of, just isn’t something that I go around telling everyone. Yes. I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself a female.” The story went viral, and Gaga was instantly assumed to have been born male. The interest on whether Gaga was a man or not became such a huge topic that the 28-year-old referenced hermaphrodite rumors in some of her songs, including Telephone.
