Snoop Dogg has long been known as The Weed Rapper. His love for cannabis has never been hidden, and he has often crafted an affectionate lyric celebrating his favorite pastime. The California rapper rose to prominence in the early 1990s, and his album, Tha Doggfather was certified double platinum in 1997. His additional successful albums include Tha Last Meal, Doggumentary, The Masterpiece and Tha Blue Carpet Treatment. Snoop also had a reality show that featured his family, called Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood and was the host of Dogg After Dark. After spending some time in Jamaica in 2013 and converting to the Rastafari movement, Snoop Dogg decided to change his name to Snoop Lion, and released a documentary film and reggae album in celebration of his experience.
